State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael met with Japanese Business Delegation led by Yoshiaki Kobayashi, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Osaka, Japan on January 25, 2017.
State Minister Dr. Aklilu noted that Ethiopia and Japan have enjoyed long-standing relations and an-ever growing bilateral cooperation, which he said should be bolstered in the years ahead.
Taking note of the fact that Japanese anchor companies are already investing in Ethiopia, the State Minister briefed the delegation on the tremendous trade and investment opportunities in the country.
Head of the delegation, Yoshiaki Kobayashi on his part underscored that Ethiopia’s new era of rapid and sustained economic growth has ushered ample opportunities to Japanese companies and investors. The conducive investment opportunities in Ethiopia have attracted the Japanese business delegation to invest in the country and do business with, he added.
He further noted that the Japanese business delegation is keen to invest in a range of sectors, including tourism, leather industry, construction, floriculture and the development of hospitals of international standards, among others.
The two sides also discussed on ways of making full use of the upcoming Ethio-Japan Business Forum due to unfold in Tokyo, Japan in late April.
