Preparations have been finalized for the 7th edition of Ethiopia’s cities forum to be held April 30-May 6, 2017 in Gondar, Amhara regional state, said the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction.
The Ministry organized six forums annually in the past and this year’s event will be the first after a decision was made to conduct the forum every two years, Demise Shito, State Minister of Urban Development and Construction told journalists yesterday.
The forum to be held at the historical city of Gondar will allow cities to showcase their best practices, promote their resources, and attract investment and tourism as well as to build health competition, he indicated. More than 200 cities, including over 20 development partners, are expected to take part at the forum to be held under the theme “our cities sustainable development and good governance for renaissance!”
The sixth edition of Ethiopia’s cities forum was held from 15th to 22nd November 2014 at Dire Dawa city under the motto “our cities being centers for enterprise development, will ensure the renaissance of Ethiopia”.
