Ethiopian patriots’ victory over Italian colonialists in 1896 at Adwa inspired Africans for independence from colonization. In order to better revere this victory, Ethiopia has started practical steps to establish Pan African University in Adwa town.
Establishing committee members have talked to EBC concerning the move to realize a University in Adwa. Though other disciplines will be there Adwa Pan African University gives primacy for pan African studies. There is high ambition of making Adwa a cultural center of Africa as Addis Ababa is the political capital of the continent. This will enable Adwa to be a major tourist destination
According to the coordinating committee for Pan African University of Adwa, it is to be built on 100 thousand hectares of land; and finance will be mobilized both from home and abroad.
