Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar arrived in Addis Ababa on April 10, 2017 for a two-day state-visit to Ethiopia.
Upon his arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International, the Emir was welcomed by high level Ethiopian government officials, including Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalgen.
During his visit, the Emir is expected to have bilateral discussions with Ethiopian leaders on ways of advancing the ever-growing ties between the two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The Ethio-Qatar bilateral talks are also expected to focus on economic, political, trade and investment, it said.
Moreover, several agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoU) are likely to be signed at the end of the Emir’s visit, including an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and special/service passports.
Ahead of the Emir’s visit, the Ethio-Qatar joint experts meeting was held on 31st March, 2017 to create favorable condition for the visit and to consider also the proposed agreements and MoUs to be signed between the two countries.
The Emir’s visit will defiantly have a significant contribution in cementing the relations existed between the two sisterly countries.
