Ethiopian Investment Commission disclosed 2 more industrial parks are going to be inaugurated in 2 weeks’ time. The industrial parks are Adama and Dire Dawa. The 2 industrial parks, whose construction was started in 2016, are said to be specialized on textile, apparel, and agro-processing.
According to Belachew Mekuria (PhD), Deputy Commissioner of EIC, the construction of the 2 industrial parks was undertaken at an outlay of 315 million USD. “Around 19 factories that can produce textile products are constructed in Adama with ambitious to create job opportunities for more than 15,000 Ethiopians directly and for over 15,000 peoples indirectly and the Dire Dawa Industrial Park aimed at creating job opportunities for over 10,000 people in a single shist”, he said.
“Adama and Dire Dawa industrial parks built at comfortable places, so the investors could easily engage at any time without any challenges. Many investor are requesting to invest in Dire Dawa industrial park, as it is close to port”, Belachew added. The expectation was the entire sits in both industrial parks would be occupied within few months following the inauguration, he explained.
2 textile manufacturing companies had already started building shades in Adama Industrial Park while one had started in recruiting employees, Belachew furthered.
The parks were constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC).
