Ethiopian cargo and logistics services has received the “Export and Import Cargo Transportation Award” at a customer’s symposium organized by Guangzhou Bayiun International Airport in China on February 7, 2018.
According to a statement Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopian) sent to FBC, top 10 international cargo carriers, domestic cargo carriers and cargo agents took part in the symposium.
Africa’s largest cargo operator, Ethiopian has the major share of 13% of the total international cargo transportation at Bayiun International Airport.
Tewolde Gebremariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said “We are very pleased to stand out from the top 10 best performing international cargo operators in Guangzhou, China and to win such a prestigious award.”
According to him, Ethiopian cargo and logistics services has been registering remarkable growth and success in implementing the airline’s ambitious strategic road map, Vision 2025.
It is playing a leading role in supporting China – Africa investment and trade ties by availing critical air connectivity, he added.
“With state of the art cargo terminals in Addis Ababa, our main hub, capable of accommodating 1 million tons annually and 8 dedicated freighters including 6 wide-body ultra-modern Boeing B777-200LRF with another 4 on order, Ethiopian cargo and logistics currently flies to 44 global freighter destinations globally covering 5 continents and is supporting the export of perishables from the continent and import of high value goods.”
Ethiopian cargo and logistics has launched in January 2018 direct freighter service from regional airport in Bahir Dar (Ethiopia) to Liège further facilitating fresh delivery of agricultural produces like flower and vegetables.
