Turks, Ethiopians Hold Business-to-Business Meeting

More than 25 Turkish and 100 Ethiopian companies held here yesterday a business-to-business meeting in which they agreed to work jointly.

The Turkish investors which attended the meeting and networking event are engaged in electric, electronics and telecommunication areas.

Speaking at the meeting, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Turkey in Ethiopia, Zulfikar Kilic said the businesspersons of the two sisterly countries have discussed about how to improve ties, especially in trade and investment.

The Commercial Counselor, who indicated the presence of 125 active companies in Ethiopia, said “I believe that we will have more companies in the coming year and the trade volume will reach 500 million USD within a short period of time.

Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Electric Power, Azeb Asnake said on her part Ethiopia has embarked on massive infrastructure projects in areas of energy, telecommunication and transport which are considered as drivers of inclusive economic development.

As a result of the growing demand for energy and recognizing the critical role played by the energy sector in industrial development, the nation has been promoting a mix of renewable energy sources comprising hydropower, wind, geothermal and solar, she added.

The CEO also urged Turkish investors to invest in energy and others sectors in Ethiopia.

Azeb further expressed her hope that the meeting and networking event between Turkish and Ethiopian companies will lead to further partnership.
