Opening a five-day and first ever Ethio – Swiss Business Forum, Swiss Ambassador to Ethiopia Andrea Semadeni here yesterday noted that a number of multi-millionaire companies in Switzerland are eager to make use of the available investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
Pertaining to the expected outcomes from such business forum, he expressed his hope that Swiss Business Delegation would be familiarized with the ongoing and overall development endeavors of the nation. They as well would get the first-hand information about the investment opportunities in Ethiopia, he added.
At the forum, Ethiopian Investment Agency Deputy Director General Mohammed Seid briefed the delegation about the existing investment opportunities in textile, leather, energy, agro – processing, horticulture, tourism, construction, mining among others, for foreign investors in Ethiopia.
According to Mohammed, a wholly foreign owned company could operate in Ethiopia with initial capital of 200,000 USD, whereas, a joint venture foreign company with domestic investor is required to commence business with 150,000 USD.
It was learnt that Chinese companies are the leading investors in number of projects while Turkish companies are mainly investing in textile than others.
