Turkish investors are reportedly interested in working in partnership with Ethiopian investors in areas of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and detergents.
A business-to-business meeting was held between 115 Ethiopian and 23 Turkish companies about the possibilities of establishing joint ventures. The meetings organized by WAFA Marketing and promotion Private Limited Company with collaboration of Commercial Counselors’ Office, Turkish Embassy in Addis Ababa.
Speaking during the occasion, Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia Osman Yavuzalp said “I deeply believe that investing in Ethiopia is investing in future of Africa”. This business-to-business meeting would contribute further to fostering trade and investment relations of the two countries.
Currently, the trade and investment relations between Ethiopia and Turkey is growing, the ambassador said, adding that durable peace and security and huge market opportunity in the country have created favorable situation to investors.
WAFA Marketing and Promotion Private Limited Company Board Director Teshela Belihu said on his part the opportunity of investment in Ethiopia will consolidate favorable situation to Turkish investors engaged in the sectors.
Ethiopia is working with international trade institutions, he said, adding that this will contribute to the transfer of the country’s industry trade to a higher stage.
Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency Director, Ashenafi Hussein said some 23 Turkish investors have the desire to engage in chemical and chemical products sector.
The investors will play a vital role in improving pharmaceuticals supply and curbing the shortage of pharmaceuticals, he said, adding that they are expected to provide standard drugs.
