Agri-CEFT has disclosed it will undertake an expansion project on its tea processing and packaging factory at an outlay which is close to 120 million Birr. The expansion will take on a 19,000 square meters of land which is found in the private Huajan Industry Zone.
The project is schedule to be concluded within a year and equip the company with production capacity of 6 million kilograms of tea leaves.
According to Fortune Haile Gebriel Consulting and Architecture Engineering PLC has prepared the foundation design.
“We have ordered prefab roofing and wall materials worth 200,000 dollars from Kuawit,” Senait Anbesso, Communication and Training Service Manager explained.
According to Senait the expansion is being undertaken in accordance to the projected growth in demand and potential capacity.
Upon completion of the project, Agri-CEFT will be able to supply 4 million kilograms while supplying 51 percent of its production to the local market.
Agri-CEFT is a subsidiary of Horizon Plantations which in turn is a member of MIDROC Investment. The company has in the last 5 years exported only a little over 6,000 tons of tea.
