The first Ethio-Cuban Business Forum was held in Habana, Cuba on October 31, 2016 on the margin of the Havana International Trade and Investment Fair.
Ethiopian delegation led by Regasa kifle, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia is participating at the trade fair which attracted more than 3,500 companies from over 73 countries.
The delegation is composed of officials from Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Trade, Metal and Engineering Corporation (METEC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his opening remark at the Forum, Dawano Kedir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Cuba, called on both sides to study the possibilities of collaboration in business and technological sectors to enhance the existing strong relation between the nations.
After recalling Ethio-Cuba’s longstanding historic relations, Regassa on his part said Ethiopia´s participation in the Havana International Fair will have significant contribution in transforming the business links between the two countries.
He also encouraged both Ethiopian and Cuban parts to have business-to–business networking and share information.
Antonio Luis Carricarte, Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment said Ethiopia’s participation in the trade fair helps facilitate and further expand the relationship between the two countries.
During the Forum, Hirut Zemene, business diplomacy Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia made a presentation on doing business in Ethiopia.
In addition to the business Forum, various bilateral meetings, business-to-business networking and discussions, and a visit to various companies were also organized for Ethiopian delegation, it was noted.
