The Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise said it has been working to increase quality goods and services competitive at local and international markets as it marked November 21 World Quality Day for the 5th time
Speaking on the occasion, Enterprise Director General Teshale Belihu said the enterprise has been providing various testing, inspection and certification services to upgrade the quality of institutions and their production procedure.
He said that if the nation lagged behind maintaining the quality of products, it is very likely to affect hard currency earning.
Therefore, to keep the quality of products and to scale up status of producers, the enterprise is doing its level best by testing the status of organizations every three month, he added.
According to him, the enterprise has certified 200 institutions and organizations for their quality products.
The enterprise has international license for inspecting the quality of products including cereals, pulses and oil seeds. It is also expecting additional license to begin the assessment of fertilizer quality in which would be produced here soon.
Guest honor Science and Technology State Minister Prof. Afework Kassu for his part said that while the country has various quality institutions it needs to do a lot.
Participants also stressed on continued assessment of products and services for extensive engagement of the nation to increase hard currency earning.
The Day was marked with the theme: ‘Making operational governance count.
