GIZ has launched a new training program for people who will work in Hawassa Industrial Park. The training is part of a 17 million euro program funded by the German government under the umbrella of the Sustainable Training & Education Program (STEP).
The program mainly focuses on textile training and industrial parks. The program will be executed in partnership with Hawassa Industrial Park Association and the Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute (ETIDI).
The training program will last until December 2016, and will run for the next two years.
The program will target 120 people who have already undergone prior training from the Institute. These trainees in return will be expected to transfer their knowledge to workers within Hawassa Industrial parks.
Hawassa Industrial Park which cost more than 250 million dollars to build was completed in July 2016. It has a maximum capacity of up to 50,000 workers.
