The 7th Ethio-Turkish Business and Investment Forum kicked off in Addis Ababa [this week].
High level government officials, including Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abitew, Minister of Trade and Nihat Zeybekci, Turkish Economy Minister, who arrived for a day-long visit, are attending the forum.
Moreover, Turkish investors who have invested in Ethiopia as well as representatives of Turkish-based companies are in attendance at the event.
The trade and investment relations between Ethiopia and Turkey have been growing from time to time.
Investments by Turkish companies have created employment opportunities for more than 30,000 Ethiopians.
Ethiopia is Africa’s top investment destination for Turkey.
Turkish investors invested 8.6 billion birr (approximately 385 million US dollars) in 2008 EC (2015/16) alone.
On the sideline of the forum, the two countries have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in various sectors.
